In the lush setting of Bolgheri, a corner of Tuscany famous for its soul-stirring scenery and high quality wines, in 1998 Knauf created its own winegrowing estate: Campo alla Sughera, 20 hectares of vineyards growing Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Vermentino, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay grapes. Currently available on the market are the following: the Arnione, Bolgheri DOC Rosso Superiore based on a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot; the Adčo, Bolgheri DOC Rosso from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot; the Achenio, Bolgheri DOC Bianco from Sauvignon, Vermentino and Chardonnay; the Arioso, IGT Toscana Bianco based on a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier grapes; and the soft and lingering Grappa di Arnione, aged for twelve months in French barriques. A great red wine is waiting to reach full maturity: it will only be made in the best years, with grapes selected from the finest varieties on the estate, harvested by hand, from 2009 onwards.
