COLLINE SALERNITANE PDO EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL

OLIVE OIL

Product Description

Colline Salernitane PDO extra virgin olive oil is cultivated in Southern Italy, in the Region of Campania. It has a truly Mediterranean taste, and it’s obtained from various olive varieties: Rotondella, Frantoio, Carpellese or Nostrale varieties of olives.

Production Area: The Colline Salernitane PDO Extra Virgin Olive Oil is produced from cultivation to packaging in 86 municipalities on the hills of the province of Salerno, in the Region of Campania, in the South-West of Italy.

Appearance and Taste: It has a beautiful color, ranging from a rather intense green to pale yellow. The fruity taste is of medium intensity, with clear overtones of tomato, artichoke and almond.

Origins: Olive trees’ cultivation in the Region of Campania, in particular in the area of Salerno, was certain in the Roman times but some sources are dating the cultivation back to Magna Grecia time.

Production: The cultivation of olives for the production of this EVO is extremely rigorous: all the production stages are monitored and checked, from the field to packaging. Before this oil can be designated as Colline Salernitane PDO, it needs to have undergone and passed a chemical and physical analysis. After tasting, a panel of experts proceeds to validate the PDO classification. The organoleptic properties of the oil are preserved only if the process has been performed in a state-of-the-art manner.

Gastronomy: The strong aromatic flavor of the Colline Salernitane PDO Extra Virgin Olive Oil is perfect to serve traditional Mediterranean dishes. To preserve its characteristic, it has to be stored in a dark place, far from heat sources and at a temperature between 14°C/57°F and 18°C/64°F.
