PATRICK W. FEGAN
Director, The Chicago Wine School

Presenting:
Lombardy's Sparkling wines: Oltrepò Pavese and Franciacorta

Wednesday, January 28th - 10:00am - New York
The New York Palace Hotel, Spellman Room

After a few years of book-based wine education, Patrick W. Fegan went to France and spent nearly a year (1971-1972) learning more: working the 1971 harvest in Burgundy, pruning vines in Provence, apprenticing in Paris. He also attended enological courses at the University of Bordeaux.

He has written and/or edited columns for numerous publications, including Chicago Magazine (April 1973-January 1988), the Chicago Sun-Times (1979-1982) and the Chicago Tribune (1987-2004), as well as irregularly published works in Food & Wine,The Friends of Wine, Connoisseur, Physicians' Guide to Fine Dining, The Wine Spectator, Wine & Spirit Buyers' Guide, Wine and Dine, Chicago Lawyer, Civiltà del bere and others.

In 1982, he wrote Vineyards and Wineries of America: A Traveler's Guide. In 1992, he created the Chicago Wine School and published The Vineyard Handbook: Appellations, Maps and Statistics (3rd edition 2003). Mr. Fegan was a major contributing editor for the Oxford University Press' Companion to the Wines of North America. He is also the technical editor of-and regular on-air contributor to The Wine Experience. To date, more than 20,000 students have participated in its classes.
