Lamberto Frescobaldi spent his life among the family vineyards and estates in the great wine regions of Tuscany, and these experiences inspired in him a deep love of the land and viticulture. He studied agricultural science and management at the University of California at Davis, and subsequently returned to join the family company in 1989 after completing his degree.
As a member of the younger generation of the 700-year old family wine company, Lamberto Frescobaldi is helping to fuel growth and innovation at the estates of Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi. Vineyard holdings have increased significantly since he joined the company in 1989, providing Lamberto with the opportunity to both safeguard family traditions as well as implement new ideas in up and coming DOC’s like Morellino di Scansano.
Lamberto oversees all enology and viticulture at the Frescobaldi estates and is actively involved in various winery research projects, including planting new clones for high density Sangiovese vineyard. Lamberto has also implemented a small-lot vinification program to check the progress of all younger vines planted at the Frescobaldi estates and their suitainability to the various terroir in Tuscany. His main goal is to build upon a long family history and successfully position Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi as the most important Italian wine family of the 21st century.
Lamberto Frescobaldi was born in 1963. He lives in Florence with his wife and three children, and enjoys helping raise his family, skiing whenever he has a chance, and eating wild boar, a specialty of Tuscan cuisine.
