Virtual Vino 2011

VINO2011 ended on January 27th, and
we were thrilled with the amazing turnout. Attendees tweeted with the
#VirtualVino hashtag throughout the event,
offering thoughts, reactions, and live updates on the panels and tastings.
Throughout and since the event, attending bloggers have posted excellent
synopses and analyses of the conversations and tastings.

Many were excited to share their
personal wine discoveries, discussing their favorites from our Grand
Tasting.  Jameson Fink at
Foodista offered a look at his experience
navigating our many presenting producers, taking a look at Amarone from
Allegrini, Primitivo from Cignomoro, and Passerina from Domodimonti. He also posted his experience with sparkling wines, gushing for Maso Marto sparklers as “pure as a mountain
stream, more focused than Kasparov at the chess board, and livelier than a
Dixieland jazz band at full-tilt.” Edward Dietch of Vint-ed covered highlights
from the
VINO2011 opening, with quotes from Leonardo Lo Cascio
of
Winebow, Cristina Mariani May of Banfi Vintners, and Tyler Colman of Dr. Vino. Fredric Koeppel of Bigger Than Your Head blogged his impressions from the
Waldorf-Astoria, offering his reactions to the
first day of seminars, his comprehensive notes on eight wines of Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, lessons learned on Lombardy, and his arguments on the value of regionality in Italian wine. Serge Lescouarnec of Serge the
Concierge covered the announcement of
Vinitalys red and white blends celebrating Italian unity, announced on Tuesday the 25th, and
the
regional sponsors dinner and cockail event on the 25th. Finally, Vinography gives a
comprehensive and thoughtful look inside our panel on the
value of competitions and medals, along with a look at The Future of Italian Wine press conference.
