Elin McCoy
Bio
Elin McCoy is wine and spirits columnist for Bloomberg News, one of the world’s largest news organizations and media companies, with 152 bureaus around the world. She writes monthly for Bloomberg Markets magazine, and her columns go out several times a month on the Bloomberg newswire, which is syndicated to 450 newspapers around the world as well as in Bloomberg Businessweek.
McCoy is also a columnist at ZesterDaily.com, a new online food and wine website with a wide USA readership, and maintains her own website at www.elinmccoy.com.
Her most recent book, The Emperor of Wine: The Rise of Robert M. Parker, Jr. and the Reign of American Taste, has garnered international praise in more than 200 reviews, with rights sold to many foreign countries, including Brazil, England, Japan, Korea, and Russia. It won the 2005 World Gourmand Cookbook Award and was a finalist for James Beard and IACP wine book of the year. She is featured in a new documentary film, Escaping Robert Parker, being released this fall in the U.S.
For 25 years McCoy was a contributing editor on wine at Food & Wine magazine and has written several thousand articles for many other publications, including Decanter, The New York Times, House Beautiful, Drink, Shattered, and House and Garden. She has co-authored four other books on wine and gourmet topics and is currently at work on two wine books, one set in California.
McCoy serves regularly as a judge in American and international wine competitions, appears on radio, and is a frequent speaker on wine at festivals and industry events.
