As Vice President, Portfolio Management for one of the nation’s top wine and spirits importers, Giacomo Turone leads a dynamic team of portfolio directors and serves as an integral member of the Palm Bay International senior management team. A native Italian, Giacomo, 37, was born in Milan and immersed in the wine business at an early age. His father Nuccio operated a winery in Montalcino, and Giacomo spent his childhood summers absorbing the many facets of wine growing, production and marketing. His interest in the wine world further developed during his college years at Universita L. Bocconi in Milan, when he gained a deeper appreciation for wine as it relates to nature, the people involved, conviviality and a healthy lifestyle.
The U.S. originally captured Giacomo’s interest when he spent a year as a high school exchange student in Duluth, Minnesota, honing his English language skills. Upon his return to Italy, he studied international business and marketing at Universita L. Bocconi. He took a job as a merchandiser for a New Jersey-based distributor. He later moved on to a metro New York sales position with Clicquot Inc, a division of LVMH, before joining the Palm Bay International team in early 2001.
He lives in Brooklyn with his wife Francine and young son Julien.
