Shop & Dine Vino 2011
Wine Shops and Restaurants at Vino 2011
All of us are very fortunate to be in the business we are in—the business of wine. Our product is an art and a gift made for pleasure, and so we encourage everyone—New Yorkers and visitors alike—to indulge in the pleasures of SHOP & DINE VINO 2011.
Take this opportunity to discover or re-discover the delights of wines from this year's featured regions—Apulia, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Lombardy, Tuscany and Veneto—in our lists of selected restaurants and wine shops, but don't hesitate to experience the wines of all the other regions as well.
The restaurants will tempt you with special by-the-glass pours, flight offerings and food-wine pairing menus, any one of which is likely to be a seductive and memorable experience. Fine dining is an effortless and beguiling way to explore one Italian wine region after another. Plan now—the journey begins January 19th and concludes February 2nd.
Joining the restaurants of Shop & Dine are many of the city's finest wine shops. They, too, will be happy to put you on the wine trail, to provide a world of taste to explore and enjoy. There will be rare opportunities to expand your wine horizons and vinous knowledge by meeting some of the Italian producers who will be on hand.
Vino 2011 and other events organized and presented by the Italian Trade Commission are the building blocks of Italian wines' success in the U.S. market. American consumers who taste Italian wines at these events often go on to adopt them as important expressions of their own lifestyles. They may feature them at parties, stage their own tastings, and pour them at formal dinners, but they also begin to recognize them as companions, as part of the fabric of everyday life. The phrase "daily red and daily bread" comes to mind; it represents wine perfectly as one of the "ordinary graces," a help and support of the Quality of Life.
