Varieties:
Vine variety requirements for this appellation's area change according to type and geographical subdenomination.
Types Barco Reale and Rosato: Sangiovese, 50%; Canaiolo, up to 20%; Cabernet franc and/or Cabernet sauvignon, 10-20%; Trebbiano toscano and/or Canaiolo bianco and/or Malvasia, up to 10%.
Type Vin Santo Secco or Amabile: Trebbiano toscano and/or Malvasia del Chianti, 75%; other local white varieties, up to 25%.
Type Vin Santo Occhio di Pernice: Sangiovese, 50%; other local red or white varieties, up to 50%.
