Varieties:
Vine variety requirements for this appellation's area change according to type.
Type Rosso: Aglianico, 60-75%; Piedirosso and/or Primitivo, 15-20%; Barbera, 10-20%; other local red varieties, up to 10%.
Type Rosato: Sangiovese, 70-80%; Aglianico, 10-15%; Primitivo and/or Piedirosso, 10-15%; other local red varieties, up to 10%.
Type Bianco: Fiano, 60-65%; Trebbiano toscano, 20-30%; Greco and/or Malvasia bianca, 10-15%; other local white varieties, up to a maximum of 10%.
Type Aglianico: Aglianico, 85%; Primitivo and/or Piedirosso, up to 15%.
