Varieties:
Vine variety requirements for this appellation's area change according to type.
Types Bianco and Vin Santo: Trebbiano toscano, 50%; other local white varieties, up to 50% (Malvasie, up to 10%).
Types Rosso, Novello and Rosato: Sangiovese, 50, other local red varieties, up to 50%.
Type Spumante: Grechetto and/or Chardonnay and/or Pinot bianco and/or Pinot nero and/or Pinot grigio, 80%; other local white varieties, up to 20%.
Varietal types: the blend proportions are always the same, variety indicated in the type name, 85%; other similar varieties admitted under the DOC law, 15%.
