Varieties:
Vine variety requirements for this appellation's area change according to type.

Type Bianco: Carricante, 60% (80% for the variation Superiore); Catarratto Bianco Comune and/or Lucido, up to 40% (20% for the variation Superiore); with the possible addition of Trebbiano and/or Minnella Bianca and other local non-aromatic white varieties, up to 15%.
Types Rosso and Rosato: Nerello Mascalese, at least 80%; Nerello mantellato (Nerello cappuccio), up to 20%; other local non-aromatic red varieties, up to 10%.
