Vine variety requirements for this appellation's area change according to type.
Type Rosso and Rosato: Sangiovese, 80%; other local red varieties up to 20%.
Type Bianco: Malvasia bianca di Candia, 50-70%; Falanghina, 20-30%; other local white varieties, up to 10%.
Type Spumante: Falanghina, 70%; other local white varieties up to 30%.
Varietal types: the blend proportions are always the same, variety indicated in the type name, 90%; other similar varieties admitted under the DOC law, 10%.
