Varieties:
Vine variety requirements for this appellation's area change according to type.
Types Rosso and Rosato: Negro Amaro, 60-80%; Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Bombino nero and Pinot nero, alone or together, 40%; Malvasia nera di Brindisi and/or di Lecce, can be added up to 10%.
Types Negro Amaro Rosso and Negro Amaro Rosato: Negro Amaro, 85%; Malvasia nera di Brindisi and/or Lecce, Montepulciano, Sangiovese and Pinot nero, can be added, alone or together, up to 15%.
Type Malvasia Nera: Malvasia nera di Brindisi and/or Lecce, 85%; Negro Amaro, Montepulciano, Sangiovese and Pinot nero can be added, alone or together, up to 15%.
Type Bianco: Trebbiano toscano, 40-60%; Chardonnay and/or Pinot bianco, at least 30%; with the possibility of adding Malvasia lunga bianca, 10%; Sauvignon and/or Bianco di Alessano, up to 25%.
