Varieties:
Vine variety requirements for this appellation's area change according to type.

Type Bianco: Inzolia and/or Grecanico and/or Chardonnay and/or Catarratto lucido, 70%; other local non-aromatic white varieties, up to 30%.
Types Rosso and Rosato: Merlot and/or Cabernet sauvignon and/or Nero d'Avola and/or Sangiovese, 70%; other local non-aromatic red varieties, up to 30%.
Riserva Rayana: Catarratto lucido and/or Inzolia, 80%; other local non-aromatic white varieties, up to 20%.
Varietal types: the blend proportions are always the same, variety indicated in the type name, 85%; other similar varieties admitted under the DOC law, 15%.
