Varieties:
Vine variety requirements for this appellation's area change according to type.
Type Rosso: Sangiovese, 40-50%; Aglianico, 30-40%; other local red varieties, up to 30%.
Type Bianco: Trebbiano toscano, 40-50%; Falanghina, 30-40%; other local white varieties, up to 30%.
Type Novello: Aglianico, 85%; other local red varieties, up to 15%.
Type Spumante: Coda di Volpe and/or Falanghina, 60%; other local white varieties, up to 40%.
Varietal types: the blend proportions are always the same, variety indicated in the type name, 85%; other similar varieties admitted under the DOC law, 15%.
