Varieties:
Vine variety requirements for this appellation's area change according to type and geographical subdenomination.
Type Bianco Vergine: Trebbiano toscano, 20%; Chardonnay and/or Pinot bianco and/or Grechetto and/or Pinot grigio, up to 80%; other local non-aromatic white varieties, up to 15%.
Types Rosso and Rosato: Sangiovese, 50%; Cabernet and/or Merlot and/or Syrah, up to 50%; other local non-aromatic red varieties, up to 15%.
Type Vin Santo: Trebbiano toscano and/or Malvasia bianca, 50%; other local non-aromatic white varieties, up to 50%.
Varietal types: the blend proportions are always the same, variety indicated in the type name, 85%; other similar varieties admitted under the DOC law, 15%.
