Trento (DOC)

ity of art and history, Trento is the place where Italian and Mitteleuropean cultures meet. Founded by the Romans, Trento is best known for the Council of Trent (1545-1563). It has preserved its artistic and historical heritage accumulated through centuries of exchanges between the Italian and Nordic cultures - an exchange that is reflected in Trento's peculiar style of architecture and the ease with which its people experiment with new winegrowing techniques imported from other areas. One of these is second fermentation, which the winegrowers of Trento have assimilated to the point of transforming their sparkling wines into landmarks of Italian oenology.

The quality levels attained by these wines - which are made solely with Chardonnay, Pino Blanc, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes, and rest with the yeast for at least 15 months (36 months for a Trento Riserva) - have led to their affirmation in foreign markets and the establishment of the Trento D.O.C. appellation.
